Delta Gamma Center For Visually Impaired Children
The picture above shows where we shored up and removed a 45’ section of the original masonry wall in order to create the circular lobby seen; extensive steel framing was built and masonry replaced, along with new concrete footings. The exterior walls of the building also needed extensive structural revisions to add window and door openings and other façade improvements which were completed in the heart of winter weather, along with a total roof replacement.
Beside the structural challenges the Center was designed to provide high contrast visual cues on the walls and floors, along with specially designed indirect lighting to help the children being served in moving around the rooms. Extensive cabinets and countertops for the Library, Lobby, and many other rooms incorporated curves matching the curved walls.
